How the names are written
For each plant, I give both the botanical name and a common name. As I explain in this lesson, botanical plant names are consistent throughout the world. But common names change depending on where you are and who you’re speaking with.
You may know a plant by a different common name from the one shown here, and that’s fine. Common names are really variable, and that’s part of what makes them so fun!
It also reiterates the importance of using botanical plant names whenever possible.
